Ladenburger Beer is brewed according to a well-known Swabian philosophy: our constant striving for perfection. Our goal is a beer that will bring enjoyment and satisfaction to your moments of leisure. All our ingredients come from our own region, with a Swabian taste and quality that nobody else can provide.

Award winning beer

Medals from The European Beer Star Award for private breweries have been awarded to Ladenburger beers in many categories. The tastings are conducted by a jury of experts: an independent committee of high-ranking and well-known beer-tasting specialists from around the world. Following the Olympic principle, the three best beers in each category are awarded medals in bronze, silver and gold.

Brewery with a long family tradition

1789

The Adlerbrauerei
While the French were storming the Bastille in the name of equality, liberty and fraternity, Joseph Fuch, whose family owned one of the leading taverns in the Ellwangen region, established the Adlerbrauerei (Eagle Brewery), which included an inn, in the town of Neuler.
1820

The eagle as heraldic animal
The brewery inn was first referred to as the “Eagle” in 1820. At this time the names of inns often had a religious significance. The heraldic animal is associated with John the Evangelist, after whom the previous owner, Johann Kieninger, was named. This was possibly the source of the name and the crest.
1906

Enter a Ladenburger
From 1906-1911 the premises was run by Joseph Rup. His daughter Mathilde Rup married Max Ladenburger, who owned the Heimatsmühle milling concern, and took over the Adlerbrauerei in 1911.
1939

Difficult years
The youngest of ten children, Karl Ladenburger took over the company in 1939 under extremely difficult circumstances. In 1944 he married Luise Sixt, whose family owned the “Brauerei zum Osser” brewery in Lam in the Bavarian Forest.
1967

The Ladenburger brewery
In 1967, the two sons Karl and Hans-Peter Ladenburger joined their parents’ firm. A short time later the name of the brewery was changed from Adlerbrauerei to Brauerei Ladenburger, which is the brewery’s current name.
1972

Generational change
After marrying Gerda Binder, Karl Ladenburger took over the management of the Ladenburg Brewery. He received support from his brother Hans-Peter, who acted as his authorised signatory. The following years saw a great deal of investment and remodelling in order to adapt the company to the demands of the competitive beer market.
1984

Ladenburger Hefeweizen
Commencing production of its own Ladenburger Hefeweizen (wheat beer), the company soon became a regional market leader for this type of beer.
1990

An obligation to quality
In order to combine the quality of our products with sound environmental principles and efficiency, we are constantly endeavouring to link traditional brewing methods with the latest technology.
2004

Three generations
Karl-Friedrich Ladenburger became a member of the executive board of his parents’ company. He represents the eighth generation to be involved with the family company and guarantees its continuation as a privately owned brewery.
2009

Anytime and anywhere!
Always open to innovation, the Ladenburger Brewery is now also marketing its products over the Internet. It is the first brewery in the world to provide beer gourmets with mobile navigation to their nearest Ladenburger retail outlet using the Ladenburger beer-finder.
2012

European Beer Star Award for Weizenbock Hell
Our Weizenbock Hell won silver in the category ‘South German-Style Weizenbock Hell’ in the European Star Award of the private breweries.
2014

Two awards at the World Beer Cup in Denver Colorado
Coinciding with the 225th anniversary of the company a total of 2 of our types of beer won awards at the World Beer Cup in Denver. The Weizenbock Hell won silver. Our Hefeweizen Hell was awarded bronze.
